Low Price Shares locked in Upper Circuit on May 26
Indian equity market is trading downwards today; power stocks slump.
Hindalco Industries, Muthoot Finance, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Oberoi Realty, Berger Paints, Colgate Palmolive India, Cummins India, Gujarat State Fertilizers Corporation, Jet Airways, Kirloskar Industries, Chemcon Speciality Chemicals, NMDC, Page Industries, Prestige Estate Projects, Quess Corp, Shalimar Paints and Sudarshan Chemicals will release their quarterly results today.

The Power Ministry announced that it is working on a scheme which will help to liquidate the past dues of power distribution companies in order to provide relief to the entire value chain in the power sector. But, the notification has left power sector officials and investors with many questions. As a result, most of the power stocks were slumped today. BSE Power slipped more than 2.5% with Adani Green Energy Ltd, JSW Energy Ltd and Adani Transmission Ltd being the top losers. All these stocks were down by 5%.
At 11:15 am, the market strength was very poor as 745 equities increased on the BSE, whereas 2,337 declined, and 108 shares remained unchanged. Around 100 stocks are locked in the upper circuit, whereas 337 were in their lower circuit.
Indian benchmark indicator Sensex was trading at a level of 53,513.93, down by 0.44%. The top gainers of Sensex were HDFC Bank, Infosys and Axis Bank. BSE Midcap index was trading at a level of 21,601.92, fell by 1.04%. BSE Smallcap index was trading at 24,722.88, slipped by 1.59%.
The Nifty 50 was trading at 15,926.05, down by 0.62%. The top-performing companies were Infosys Ltd, HDFC Bank and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.
