At 11.30 am on Friday, headline indices Sensex and Nifty took a sharp fall on the bourses. The week-long raging was between Russia and Ukraine, seems to worsen even more as blasts were heard near Ukraine’s nuclear plant in Zaporizhzhia, indicating possible nuclear radiation in the surrounding areas.

The Sensex was at 54,240. 32 down by 862.36 points or 1.57%, and the Nifty was at 16,230.05 down by 253.65 points or 1.54%.

The top 5 gainers in the Sensex pack are UPL, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, ITC, Tech Mahindra, and Sun Pharmaceuticals. Whereas, the top 5 losers are HUL, Asian Paints, Maruti Suzuki, Eicher Motors, and Titan Company.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index is trading at 28,373.75 and is down by 0.56%. The top three gainers of the index were BEL, Mphasis, and ATGL. Each of these scrips was up by more than 1%. Similarly, the top 3 stocks dragging the index down were IRCTC, Ashok Leyland, and Vodafone Idea.

The Nifty Smallcap 100 index is trading at 9,975.20 down by 0.82%. The top 3 gainers of the index were HEG, GNFC, and Intellect Design Arena. Each of these scrips was up by more than 3%. The top stocks pulling the index down are Carborundum Universal, Rain Industries, and Multi Commodity Exchange.

The sectoral indices on the Nifty were all trading in the red with Nifty Auto, Nifty Bank, Nifty Consumer Durables, and Nifty Realty were dragging the Nifty 50 more than 2%.
