The Indian market closed marginally lower today. BSE Capital Goods is the top gainer whereas, BSE Telecom was the top loser.

The Indian equity market after closing on a positive note from Monday, today snapped the winning run. Besides, some of the sectoral indices closed on a positive note while some closed negatively.

In today’s trade, Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex indices closed down by 2.05 points i.e., 0.01% and 12.27 points i.e., 0.02%, respectively. Stocks that supported BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 to pull the index up were Infosys Ltd, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, HDFC Bank Ltd and Larsen Toubro Ltd. Whereas, stocks that dragged BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 down were HDFC Ltd, Asian Paints Ltd, Axis Bank Ltd and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex opened down by 0.39% and 0.32% respectively from the previous close.

In Friday's trading session S&P BSE Capital Goods, S&P BSE Realty, S&P BSE Industrials and S&P BSE Information Technology were top gainers. BSE Capital Goods index consisting of stocks such as Praj Industries Ltd, Bharat Electronics Ltd, Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and Thermax Ltd led the pack. 

On the flip side, S&P BSE Telecom, S&P BSE fast Moving Consumer Goods, S&P BSE Healthcare and S&P BSE India Manufacturing Index were top losers. BSE Telecom index consisting of stocks such as Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd, GTPL Hathway Ltd, Indus Towers Ltd, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Route Mobile Ltd and Tejas Networks Ltd were the top drags.
