Nifty 50 closed in the green in today's trade with a gain of 249.5 points. It opened at 16757.1 against the previous close of 16345.35, which means a gap up of 411.75 points. Overall we saw that in today's trade there were more stocks that closed in green.
In today’s trade, the best performing index is NIFTY FMCG it was up by 3.1%. This is followed by NIFTY PSU BANK, which is up by 2.33%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY IT. In fact this was the only sectoral index that closed in red in today’s trade. It is down by 0.12%. Out of the total 10.0 companies forming part of the index, 5.0 companies closed in red, and 5.0 closed in green.
Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'Reliance Industries ', 'HDFC Bank', 'HUL', 'HDFC' and 'Bajaj Finserve' together they contributed around 84.4 points gain in the index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'ONGC ', 'Dr Reddys Labs', 'Coal India', 'Tech Mahindra' and 'TCS'. These companies contributed -6.76 points towards the Nifty 50.
Overall market today was in favour of advances. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 358:129.
