Nifty 50 closed in red in today's trade with a fall of 252.7 points. It opened at 16339.45 against the previous close of 16498.05, which means a gap down of 158.6 points. Overall we saw that in today's trade more stocks closed in red.

In today’s trade, the best performing index is NIFTY IT, it was up by 0.14%. This is followed by NIFTY PHARMA, which is down by 0.34%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY AUTO. It is down by 3.55 per cent. Out of the total 15.0 companies forming part of the index, all closed in red.

Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'ITC ', 'Tech Mahindra', 'Dr Reddys Labs', 'Wipro' and 'Infosys' together they contributed around 18.44 points gain in the index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'ICICI Bank', 'HDFC', 'Titan Company', 'Bajaj Finance' and 'Reliance Industries'. These companies contributed 111.3 points towards the Nifty 50 fall.

Overall market today was in favour of decline. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 73:414.
