Today NIFTY METAL is the best performing index and NIFTY FMCG is the worst performing index.
After gaining about 4% in last week's trading, Nifty 50 started this week with a negative note. It closed in red in today's trade with a fall of 169.45 points. It opened at 17329.50 against the previous close of 17287.05, which means a gap up of 42.45 points. Nevertheless, it could not sustain that and closed below the 17,150 level. Overall, we saw that in today's trade more stocks closed in red.
Today the best performing index was NIFTY METAL, it was up by 1.50%. This is followed by NIFTY MEDIA, which was up by 0.46%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY FMCG. It is down by 1.72%. Out of total 15.0 companies forming part of the index, all closed in red.
Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'HDFC Bank', 'Hindalco', 'UPL', 'ONGC' and 'Titan Company' together they contributed around 12.48 points gain in index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'SBI', 'TCS', 'Reliance Industries', 'ICICI Bank' and 'Bajaj Finance'. These companies contributed 51.87 points towards the fall of Nifty 50
Overall market today was in favour of decline. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 167:316.
