Today, the Indian market closed up with a green mark. BSE Metal is the top gainer whereas, BSE Oil & Gas was the top loser.

Today on the day of Union Budget 2022 the Indian equity market closed up with a green mark. Besides, the majority of sectoral indices closed on a positive note.

In today’s trade, Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex indices closed up by 237.00 points i.e., 1.37% and 848.40 points i.e., 1.46%, respectively. Stocks that supported BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 to pull the index up were ICICI bank Ltd, Infosys Ltd and Larsen & Toubro Ltd. Whereas, stocks that dragged BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 down were Reliance Industries Ltd, State Bank of India Ltd and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex opened up by 1.09% and 1.13%, respectively from the previous close.

On a sectoral basis, S&P BSE Metal, S&P BSE Basic Materials, S&P BSE Capital Goods and S&P BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods were the top gainers. BSE Metal consisting of stocks such as Tata Steel Ltd, Jindal Steel Ltd, Vedanta Ltd, Steel Authority of India Ltd, NMDC Ltd and Hindalco Industries Ltd led the pack.

In Tuesday's trading session, S&P BSE Oil & Gas, S&P BSE Auto, S&P BSE PSU and S&P BSE CPSE were the top losers. The Oil & Gas index consisting of stocks such as Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd and Reliance Industries Ltd were the top drags.
