The Indian market closed down with a red mark. BSE PSU is the top gainer whereas, BSE Information Technology was the top loser.

Today is the second day where the Indian equity market closed on a negative note. Besides, some of the sectoral indices closed on a negative note, while some closed positively.

In today’s trade Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex indices closed down by 174.65 points i.e., 0.96% and 656.04 points i.e., 1.08%, respectively. Stocks that supported BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 to pull the index up were State Bank of India Ltd and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. Whereas, stocks that dragged BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 down were Infosys Ltd, Bajaj Finance Ltd, ICICI Bank Ltd and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex opened up by 0.08% and 0.14%, respectively from the previous close.

In Wednesday's trading session S&P BSE PSU, S&P BSE Enhanced Value Index, S&P BSE Utilities and S&P BSE Power were top gainers. BSE PSU index consisting of stocks such as Bank of Maharashtra Ltd, Bank of Baroda Ltd, NLC India Ltd, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd and GAIL (India) Ltd led the pack.

On the flip side, S&P BSE Information Technology, S&P BSE TECk, S&P BSE Telecom and S&P BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods were top losers. BSE Information Technology index consisting of stocks such as L&T Technology Services Ltd, Aptech Ltd, 63 Moons Technologies Ltd, HCL Infosystems Ltd, Affle (India) Ltd and AurionPro Solutions Ltd were the top drag.
