Indices trade firm amid volatility, as gains were witnessed in realty sector stocks.

Most Asian stocks fell in line with Wall Street, which was fuelled by news that Apple planned to cut spending due to economic uncertainty. Apple's stock dropped 2% in a single day after trading in the green. SGX Nifty indicated a sluggish opening for the broader index in India with a loss of 123 points.

At 12:45 pm, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 16,319.70 level, gaining 0.25%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel whereas Nestle India, SBI Life Insurance and Cipla were the top losers of the session.

Sensex was trading at a level of 54,662.41, advancing by 0.26%. The top gainers were Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel, whereas Nestle India, HCL Technologies and Infosys were the market draggers.

With gains of over 1%, BSE Realty was the top-performing sector, led by Sobha Ltd, Oberoi Realty, and Prestige Estate Projects Ltd. According to data released by the Department of Telecommunications, in total, companies that bid in the 5G airwaves auction put down Rs 21,800 crore. Reliance Jio made the largest earnest money deposit of Rs 14,000 crore. Bharti Airtel came in second with Rs 5,500 crore, and Vodafone Idea came in third with Rs 2,200 crore.
