Nifty 50 surpasses the 17,000 mark, with SBI Life Insurance at the helm. 

Asian markets had mixed signals, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng falling more than 2.50% to a two-month low as tech companies tumbled. Alibaba Group Holding shares fell more than 6% following pacing declines amid increasing regulatory concerns. With a gain of 195 points, the SGX Nifty projected a gap-up opening for India's broader index.

 At 12:30 pm, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 17,103.20 level, gaining by 1.03%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were SBI Life Insurance, Tata Steel and Hindalco Industries whereas Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Hindustan Unilever and Sun Pharmaceuticals were the top losers of the session.

Sensex was trading at a level of 57,369.08, advancing by 0.90%. The top gainers were Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv and Infosys, whereas Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Hindustan Unilever and Sun Pharmaceuticals were the market draggers.

Shares of SBI Life Insurance surged to an all-time high on the BSE after the company reported a 17.78% year-on-year (YoY) increase in net profit at Rs 262.85 crore for June quarter, compared to Rs 223.16 crore in the same quarter previous year. BSE Metals and BSE Basic Materials were the biggest gaining sectors, with all sectors trading in the green.
