After four days of positive trade, domestic equity bourses are dragging on Tuesday pulled down by metal, realty and IT stocks.
After reporting July 2022 as the greatest month since November 2020, Wall Street indices struggled to advance on Monday as an earnings-driven rally faded. The S&P 500 plummeted 0.28% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.14%, while the Nasdaq Composite Index declined 0.18%. The rupee strengthened 12 paise to 78.94 against the US dollar, boosted by foreign investment inflows and a drop in crude oil prices.

Indian domestic indices opened slightly lower, mirroring the fatigue in the global markets. At 11:25 am, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 17,264.00 level, falling by 0.44%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were IndusInd Bank, State Bank of India and Tata Consumer Products whereas; Hindalco Industries, UPL Ltd and Hero Motocorp were the top losers of the session.
Sensex was trading at a level of 57,896.57, dipping by 0.38%. The top gainers were State Bank of India, IndusInd Bank and Asian Paints, whereas HDFC twins and Tech Mahindra were the top draggers of the session.
ITC shares reached a new 52-week high after reporting stronger Q1 results. Zomato shares jumped more than 16% in an otherwise sluggish market following June quarter reports. The BSE Utilities and BSE Power sectors both witnessed modest gains.
