Domestic indices trade flat, rupee gains to 79.92 against the US dollar
Following weaker than anticipated earnings from two major US banks, JPMorgan Chase and Morgan Stanley, the major US stock indices fell on Thursday. After reporting a 28% decline in quarterly profit and suspending share buybacks while setting aside more cash to cover potential losses, JPMorgan experienced a drop of over 4% in early deals.

In addition, Morgan Stanley lost more than 2% after missing profit projections for the first time in nine quarters. Afterwards, both these banks and benchmark indices pared their initial losses.
The rupee strengthened 7 paise in the early trade to 79.92 against the US dollar as investor sentiment was boosted by a firm trend in domestic equities. Thereafter, indices trimmed the earlier gains. At 12:15 pm, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 15,945.05 level, edged up by 0.04%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Tata Consumer Products, Titan and Bharti Airtel whereas; Wipro, Tata Steel and HCL Technologies were the top losers of the session.
Sensex was trading at a level of 53,424.04, edged up by 0.01%. The top gainers were Bharti Airtel, Titan and Mahindra and Mahindra whereas; Wipro, Tata Steel and HCL Technologies were the top draggers of the session.
