Indices fell for the 6th straight session on Friday with IT and Realty being market draggers. US stocks fell sharply on Thursday, undoing the previous session’s gains as investors were worried about risks ahead. Headline indicator Nasdaq Composite tumbled 4.08%, its lowest close since September 2020. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 2.42% and S&P 500 too plunged 3.25%.

Among the mega-caps, Apple, Microsoft and Tesla were some of the biggest losers. Shares of Tesla lost over 8.5% after Elon Musk, SpaceX and Tesla Inc were sued for $258 billion over the claims that they are part of a racketeering scheme to back the cryptocurrency Dogecoin.

Tracking the weak global sentiments, Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 opened in the red territory. At 11:25 am, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 15,262.00 level, slipping 0.64%. Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Coal India were the top gainers whereas the top losers were Titan Company Ltd, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and Wipro Ltd.

Sensex was trading at a level of 51,232.62, down by 0.51%. The top stocks trading in green were Tata Steel, Bajaj Finserv and Reliance Industries Ltd. Stocks pulling down the index were Titan Company Ltd, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and Wipro Ltd.

On the sectoral front, BSE Metals was the only gaining sector. Steel Authority of India, Jindal Steel and Tata Steel were top gainers of the sector with gains of over 2% each. BSE Consumer durables plunged over 3% with Titan being the top loser.
