Penny Stocks Locked in the Upper Circuit on September 12, 2022
Indian benchmark indices trade strongly, backed by gains in IT and technology sector stocks.
On Friday, Wall Street indices rose on the back of strong global cues. Indian domestic indices opened higher today, mirroring gains in US markets.
With the strength of significant gains in IT and technology stocks, the BSE Sensex climbed by 400 points and recaptured its crucial 60,000 level. The broader markets outperformed the main indices. With gains of over 12%, Aurionpro Solutions led the BSE Smallcap pack and traded at a new 52-week high.

At 11:55 am, the BSE Sensex gained 0.71%, reaching a level of 60,215. The Nifty 50 index rose 0.69% to 17,956 level. The biggest gainers on the Sensex were Tech Mahindra, Infosys and Titan whereas Mahindra and Mahindra, HDFC and ITC Ltd were the top losers.
In the broader markets, the BSE Midcap index added 0.85% and was trading at a level of 26,158 while the Smallcap index climbed 1.05% and was trading at a level of 29,838.
In other news, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that India's foreign exchange reserves fell by $8 billion to $553.11 billion as of the week ending September 2, the lowest level since October 9, 2020.
