Key Factors Impacting INR Today:

  • Rupee Strengthens Against USD: The Indian Rupee opened stronger at ₹85.11 against the US Dollar and appreciated further, continuing its upward trend for the fifth consecutive session. The domestic currency had closed at ₹85.38 on Thursday, gaining nearly ₹1.58 in the last five trading days.
  • Dollar Index Weakens Sharply: The US Dollar Index, a measure of the greenback’s strength against a basket of major currencies, declined 0.89% to 98.34, its lowest level since April 2022. Year-to-date, the index is down over 9%, reflecting growing expectations of a potential pivot by the US Federal Reserve due to signs of economic softening.
  • Support from Declining Crude Oil Prices: Falling crude prices supported the Rupee further. Brent crude was trading 1.53% lower at USD 66.92 per barrel, while WTI crude fell 1.52% to USD 63.70 per barrel amid concerns about global energy demand and ongoing trade tensions.
