The Indian benchmark indices are trading volatile while indices drift lower in trade.

At 11:33 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was down 102 points or 0.17% to 59,171. The Nifty 50 index lost 31 points or 0.18% to 17,361. In the broader market, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.49% while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index advanced 0.30%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 1,650 shares rose and 1,557 shares fell and a total of 154 shares were unchanged. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 2,022.52 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net buyers to the tune of Rs 2,231.66 crore in the Indian equity market on 27 February 2023, provisional data showed.

 Japan recorded its worst decline in factory output in eight months, recording a 4.6% drop in January compared to December. US stocks rose on Monday amid bargain hunting following the worst week of the year on Wall Street. All three major US indexes closed higher, with the Nasdaq Composite leading the gains. 

Amongst the sectors auto, consumer durables and power were the top gainers while energy, metal, oil and gas were the top losers.
