Today NIFTY PSU BANK was the best performing index and NIFTY HEALTHCARE INDEX was the worst-performing index.

The first trading day of the new fiscal started with a bang. Nifty 50 closed in green in today's trade with a gain of 205.70 points or 1.18% and closed at 17670.45. It opened at 17436.90 against the previous close of 17464.75, which means a gap down of 27.85 points. It soon shifted to positive territory and gained most in the last half hour of trade. Overall, we saw more stocks closed in green.

In today’s trade, the best performing index was NIFTY PSU BANK it was up by 3.99%t. This is followed by NIFTY MICROCAP 250, which was up by 2.75%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY HEALTHCARE INDEX. It is down by 0.16%. Out of total the 20.0 companies forming part of the index, 9.0 companies closed in red, and 11.0 closed in green.

Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'HDFC Bank', 'HDFC', 'Bajaj Finance', 'Reliance Industries' and 'SBI' together they contributed around 99.60 points gain in index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'Hero Motocorp', 'Tech Mahindra', 'SBI Life Insurance, 'Infosys' and 'Titan Company'. These companies contributed 9.66 points towards the fall of Nifty 50.

Overall market today was in favour of advances. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 387:99.
