As the market ends 4-day losing streak, the Sensex closed 345 points higher and the Nifty50 reclaims 16,000

On Friday, the frontline indices posted modest increases and closed close to the day's high. Following a low of 15,927.30 in the morning trade, the Nifty recovered the crucial 16,000 mark. The S&P BSE Sensex, the barometer index, increased 344.63 points or 0.65% to reach 53,760.78. To reach 16,049.20, the Nifty 50 index increased by 110.55 points or 0.69%. The Sensex sank 1.96% over the last four days, while the Nifty dropped 1.74%. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index increased by 0.84% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index increased by 0.52% in the overall market. 1,789 shares increased and 1,497 shares decreased on the BSE and 148 shares were unchanged overall.

The Nifty 50 index underperformed the Nifty Auto index (up 2.03%), the Nifty FMCG index (up 1.47%), and the Nifty Consumer Durables index (up 1.45%). The Nifty 50 index outperformed the Nifty Metal index (down 0.81%), Nifty PSU Bank index (down 0.43%), and Nifty IT index (down 0.15%). 

The yield on the benchmark 10-year federal paper for India increased to 7.409 from 7.384 at the close of the previous trading session. The rupee was stronger versus the dollar on the foreign exchange market. The rupee was trading at 79.9050, down from its session-ending level of 79.9975. The price of MCX Gold futures for the 5 August 2022 date dropped by 0.45% to Rs 50,004. 

The US Dollar index (DXY), which measures the value of the dollar in relation to a variety of other currencies, decreased 0.10 % to 108.44. Brent crude for September 2022 settlement increased 53 cents or 0.53 % to $99.63 a barrel on the commodities market. During the previous trading session, the futures lost 47 cents, or 0.47 %, to settle at $99.10 per barrel. China's second-quarter GDP fell short of forecasts. China's GDP increased by 0.4% in the second quarter as opposed to 4.8% in the first.
