The benchmark indices had a good day on Thursday and closed close to the day's high. 

 Shares rose across all industries, with financial, IT, and bank companies posting the largest gains. The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, increased by 1041.47 points or 1.87% to 56,857.79 as of preliminary closing data. To reach 16,929.60, the Nifty 50 index increased by 287.80 points or 1.73%. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index increased by 0.94% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index increased by 0.65% in the overall market.

Market breadth was positive as 1,910 shares increased and 1,429 shares decreased on the BSE and 140 shares remained unchanged in total. Investors applauded after the US Fed denied that the US economy is in a recession and suggested that future rate hikes would be more gradual.

After the NFBC's consolidated net profit increased by 158.99% to Rs 2,596.25 crore on a 37.66% increase in total income to Rs 9,282.71 crore in Q1 FY23 over Q1 FY22, Bajaj Finance soared 10.44%. After the company's consolidated net profit increased by 57% to Rs 1,309 crore on an increase in total revenue of 14% to Rs 15,888 crore in Q1 FY23 over Q1 FY22, Bajaj Finserv saw a 10.46% increase.

Bajaj Finserv's board has approved a 5-for-1 stock split and a 1:1 bonus share issuance. Each equity share, which has a face value of Rs 5, shall be divided into Rs 1 each by the firm. In the future, it will exchange one equity share with a face value of Rs. 1 for one fully paid bonus equity share. The shareholders must approve this.

Following the widely anticipated decision by the U.S. Federal Reserve to hike rates by 75 basis points to combat inflation, shares in Europe and Asia were trading higher on Thursday. US markets rose on Wednesday as the Federal Reserve announced its much-awaited rate hike to combat inflation, though it suggested that it would eventually moderate the pace of its campaign.
