In the final hour of trading, the market saw a lot of selling. As UltraTech's capex plan aroused competition fears, cement stocks plummeted. Automobiles, metals, and bank stocks all fell. IT and oil and gas stocks, on the other hand, defied the trend.

Today, the Nifty Auto index fell 1.82% to 11282.15. The index has increased by 6.00% in the last month. Bharat Forge Ltd fell 3.77%, Hero MotoCorp Ltd fell 2.98%, and Bosch Ltd fell 2.83% among the members. The Nifty Auto index has risen 6.00% in the last year, compared to the benchmark Nifty 50 index's 5.70% increase. The Nifty Commodities index is down 1.79% on the day, while the Nifty Media index is down 1.52%.

The rupee was weaker than the dollar in the foreign exchange market. The rupee was hanging around 77.6350, down from 77.60 at the previous trading session's finish. Gold futures on the MCX climbed 0.01% to Rs.51,273 for the 5 August 2022 settlement. Brent crude for the August 2022 settlement fell USD 1.01, or 0.86%, to USD 117.20 a barrel on the commodities market. During the previous trading session, the contract increased 1.32 cents, or 1.14%, to USD 117.61 a barrel. On Thursday, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) decided to pump extra crude oil over the next two months as Russian output begins to decline as a result of Western sanctions.
