The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, increased by 443.19 points or 0.86% to 52,265.72 as of preliminary closing data. The Nifty 50 index increased by 143.35 points (0.93%), reaching 15,556.65. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index increased by 0.76% and the S&P BSE Small-Cap index increased by 0.66% in the overall market.
Today's Nifty Auto index finished 4.39 % higher at the 11359.5 level. Over the past month, the index has increased by 2.0%. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd increased by 6.27%, Hero MotoCorp Ltd up by 5.93%, and Eicher Motors Ltd increased by 5.87% among the members. In contrast to the benchmark Nifty 50 index's 0.83% decline, the Nifty Auto index has increased 7.00 % over the past year. Nifty IT index and Nifty Consumption index both saw daily gains of 1.96% and 2.06%, respectively.
The Nifty Media index increased by 1.42%. to reach 1,844.20. In today’s trading day, the index fell 3.50 % the following companies saw gains: PVR (up 1.4%), Dish TV India (up 1.4%), Sun TV Network (up 1.06%), Network 18 Media & Investments (up 3.47%), TV18 Broadcast (up 1.51%), Inox Leisure (up 1.48%), Zee Entertainment Enterprises (up 1.47%), and Nazara Technologies (up 3.77%).
Market breadth was positive as 2,093 shares increased and 1,211 shares decreased. 130 shares were unchanged. On Thursday, amid worries about soaring prices and weakening economic growth, European equities sank broadly while most Asian stocks rose.
