On Wednesday, the Indian equity indices reversed intraday gains and ended with slight losses. The Nifty fell below 16,250 after reversing from the day's high of 16,399.80. Shares of FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare companies all rose. Meanwhile, real estate, banking, and technology stocks all fell. The S&P BSE Sensex, the barometer index, slid 109.94 points (0.20%) to 54,208.53. The Nifty 50 index fell 19 points to 16,240.30, or 0.12%. The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index declined 0.13%, while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index increased 0.33% in the broader market. Market breadth was favourable. The BSE saw 1,910 equities rise and 1,440 have fallen, while 116 shares remained unchanged.
Today, the Nifty Realty index fell 1.75% to 395.15. Over the last month, the index has dropped 14.00%. Prestige Estates Projects Ltd decreased 4.69%, Phoenix Mills Ltd climbed 4.20%, and Godrej Properties Ltd fell 3.94% among the members. Over the last year, the Nifty Realty index has increased by 29.00%, compared to 7.49% for the benchmark Nifty 50 index. The Nifty PSE index has fallen 1.73% on the day, while the Nifty PSU Bank index has fallen 1.57%. The Nifty 50 has down 0.12% to settle at 16240.3, while the SENSEX has dropped 0.20% to close at 54208.53 today.
