Shares in Asian markets too climbed as calm returned after the sharp sell-off. Taiwan’s TSEC 50 Index and Japan’s Nikkei 225 surged over 2% each. South Korea's central bank said that it expects inflation will be higher than projected and it would closely assess debt repayment burdens to determine whether a half-percentage point interest rate hike in July was appropriate.
SGX Nifty indicated a positive opening with a gain of 40 points. At 12:10 pm, the Indian benchmark indicator Sensex was trading at a level of 52,446.97, surging by 1.65%. The Nifty 50 was trading at 15,605.30, advanced by 1.66%. All the stocks on both the domestic bourses were trading in the green territory. The top gainers on Sensex were Titan, HCL Technologies and State Bank of India and on Nifty 50 index were Titan, JSW Steel and Hindalco Industries Ltd.
