Low Price Shares locked in Upper Circuit on April 04
At 10.30 am on Monday, the core equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50, were at the highest levels since October 2021. The Sensex breached the 60,000 levels and Nifty 50 went past the 18,000 mark!
This great surge comes after the Boards members of HDFC Bank announced the merger of HDFC Bank and HDFC Ltd, where HDFC Ltd will acquire 41% of HDFC Bank via a transformational merger, thus making HDFC bank one of the largest lenders in the private sector.
The Sensex was trading at 60,664.93 up by 1389.24 points or 2.34% and the Nifty 50 was trading at 18,035.05 up by 364.60 points or 2.06%.
The top five gainers in the Nifty 50 pack are HDFC Ltd (up by 15.61%), HDFC Bank (Up by 12.91%), HDFC Standard Life Insurance, NTPC, and Bharti Airtel. Meanwhile, the top five stocks pulling down the index are ONGC, Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, and IndusInd Bank.
BSE Midcap index is trading at a level of 24,622.50 up by 0.73%. The top 3 gainers of the index were Adani Power, JSW Energy, and LIC Housing Finance. Each of these scrips gained more than 4%. The top three stocks dragging the index were Oberoi Realty, Kansai Nerolac, and GlaxoSmithKline.
BSE Smallcap index is trading at, 29,030.23 up by 1.15%. The top three gainers are Suryoday Small Finance Bank, Ashapura Mines, and SML Isuzu. Each of these stocks gained more than 15%. The top three stocks pulling the index down are Excel, Deep Industries, and Reliance Infrastructure.
All the sectoral indices on the BSE were trading in the green, with BSE Finance and BSE Private bank being up by almost 5%.
