Low Price Shares locked in Upper Circuit on May 09
Domestic equity bourses Sensex and Nifty 50 are trading negatively in the afternoon deals on Monday.
The benchmark indicator SGX Nifty indicated a gap-down opening with a loss of 204 points. Along similar lines, Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 witnessed a gap down opening amid weak global sentiments. Foreign investors have pulled over Rs 6,400 crore from the Indian market in the trading sessions of the month of May 2022 amid high inflation, shadows of the Russia-Ukraine war and lockdowns in China.

The market strength was very poor as 923 equities increased on the BSE, whereas 2399 declined, and 129 shares remained unchanged. There were a total of 179 stocks that were locked in the upper circuit whereas 305 were in their lower circuits. In the case of domestic indices, the Sensex was trading at a level of 54,474.12, down by 0.66%, and the Nifty 50 was trading at 16,302.05, down by 0.67%.
BSE Midcap index was trading at a level of 22,776.98, down by 1.52%. The top gainers of the index were ABB India Ltd, Federal Bank Ltd and Ajantha Pharma Ltd. The top stocks dragging the index down were Canara Bank, Tata Power and Page Industries Ltd. All of these stocks were down by more than 4%.
BSE Smallcap index was trading at 26,711.47, down by 1.41%. The top gainers were Shanthi Gears Ltd, DCB Bank Ltd and Vesuvius India Ltd. Each of these stocks gained more than 7%. The top stocks pulling the index down were Privi Speciality Chemicals, Indostar Capital Finance and MTAR Technologies Ltd.
