Opening Bell: Markets trade marginally lower, IT, Energy and Power stocks gain as LIC IPO opens today!


On Wednesday morning the markets opened flat, amid positive global cues, as the domestic investors gear up to participate in the country’s largest IPO of Life Insurance Corporation Of India.
US markets ended on a higher note, after the release of the macroeconomic data, and the crude oil price also surged.
The Sensex is at 56,852.96 down by 123.03 points or 0.22%, whereas the Nifty 50 is at 17,023.10 down by 46 points or 0.27%, since the last trading session.
BSE Midcap was trading at 24,276.54, down by 0.11 % and BSE Smallcap was at 28,401.76 up by 0.14%. Similarly, Nifty Midcap 100 was at 29,743.25 up by 0.13% and the Nifty Smallcap 100 was at 10,126.9 up by 0.07%.
The top gainers on the frontline indices this morning were Britannia Industries, ONGC, PowerGrid Corporation Of India, NTPC, UPL, Infosys, and Wipro. Likewise, the top losers were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Asian Paints, Titan Company, Sun Pharmaceuticals, and Apollo Hospitals.
On the BSE, 1,672 shares have advanced, 1,228 shares have declined, and 115 shares are unchanged. Also, 125 stocks have hit their upper circuit, and 128 stocks have hit their lower circuit.
The top trending stocks on BSE, this morning are Dalmia Bharat, HDFC, Grasim Industries, Kajaria Ceramics, Infosys, Godrej Industries, Page Industries, and Aavas Finance.
Among the sectoral indices, Realty, Energy, Oil & Gas, Power and IT sectors were trading higher this morning.
