Power Grid announces its Q4 and FY22 results; stock trades lower by 1.7%

The company witnessed a modest growth of over 4.9% in revenues for FY22.    

Power Grid Corp Ltd, engaged in the business of power transmission and distribution, has been trending on Dalal Street for its Q4 and FY22 results. However, the stock has fallen 1.72% from its previous close of Rs 225.10. The scrip opened at Rs 229.20 and made a day’s high of Rs 231.45. It closed at Rs 225.10. 

The company announced its Q4 and FY22 results on 21st May. In Q4FY22, revenue grew by 1.67% YoY to Rs 10686 crore from Rs 10510.23 crore in Q4FY21. On a sequential basis, the top line was up by 2.29%. PBIDT (Ex OI) was reported at Rs 9340.54 crore, up by 0.48% as compared to the year-ago period and the corresponding margin was reported at 87.41%, contracting by 103 basis points YoY. PAT was reported at Rs 4744.39 crore, up by 22.42% from Rs 3875.66 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. The PAT margin stood at 44.4% in Q4FY22 expanding from 36.88% in Q4FY21.    

As far as the fiscal 2022 results are concerned, the revenues grew by 4.9% to Rs 41,616 crore as against FY21. The EBITDA and PAT increased by 3.4% and 46.12% to Rs 37,648.5 crore and Rs 17,275.3 crore, respectively.   

The objective of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd is to create a strong and vibrant national grid in the country to ensure the optimum utilization of generating resources, conservation of an eco-sensitive right of way and the flexibility to accommodate the uncertainty of generation plans. Presently, Power Grid is one of the few telecom players with a marked presence in remote areas and is providing highly reliable services to various customers. The company is also in the business segment of Telecom, Consultancy, and Transmission. The stock has a 52-week high of Rs 279.15 and a 52-week low of Rs 200.85.
