Here’s a list of the top 5 gainers and losers this week in the large-cap space.

Countries all over the world continue to tackle inflation woes. Following the US Fed’s recent rate hike of 75 bps, RBI today announced a rate hike of 50 bps. With this hike, the repo rate now stands at 5.9%.

The contractionary monetary policy stance rippled across the stock markets. In the last 5 trading sessions, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex plunged nearly 3%, going from the level of 58,098.92 on 23 September to 56,409.96 on 29 September. Similarly, NIFTY declined by the same quantum, going from 17,327.35 on 23 September to 16,818.10 on 29 September.

Shares of Zydus Lifesciences are the top gainers from large cap space this week. Last week, the company informed the exchanges about the acquisition of an additional 11.86% stake in AMP Energy Green Nine Private Limited (AMP). This acquisition is aligned with the company’s commitment to enhancing the share of renewable power sources in its operation. AMP is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed to set up a captive wind-solar hybrid power project in Gujarat. AMP is a subsidiary of AMP Energy India Private Limited. The latter is engaged in the business of developing, owning, operating and maintaining renewable energy infrastructure for supplying electrical power generated using solar energy and other sources of renewable energy to commercial, industrial and utility customers.

Abbott India Ltd

Shares of Abbott India are amongst the top gainers on the bourses this week. However, the company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in its share price could be driven purely by market forces. 

Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd

Shares of Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd gained 5.72% on the bourses in the last 5 trading sessions. On Thursday, 29 September 2022, the company reported the proceedings of its 04th Annual General Meeting (AGM). Apart from this, no significant announcement has been made by the company lately.
