History

M & M is an Indian conglomerate that primarily involves itself in manufacturing automobiles with its head office in Mumbai. As per an Indian study, it is the 10th most trusted company and, the largest automobile manufacturer in India, the number one seller of tractors in the world. Its main competitors are Mercedes-Benz (Merc), Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Toyota, and Ashok Leyland.
KC Mahindra, J. C. Mahindra and Malik Ghulam Mohammed started the erstwhile Mahindra, and Mohamad Lt began as a steel manufacturing company in 1945. In 1948, after India became independent and Mohammed chose to migrate to Pakistan, Mohammed was removed and replaced with Mahindra, and the company became known as Mahindra & Mahindra. Sensing the gains from manufacturing and selling MUVs, M & M began to do so under the Willys Jeep licence in India.

Anand G Mahindra—Chairman, Mahindra Group

Anand Mahindra is presently the Chairman of the Mahindra Group and the Non-executive Chairman of M & M and Tech Mahindra. He has earned many laurels for his contribution to trade and industry, and among them is the third-highest civilian award, the Bharat Bhusan, in 2020. As reported by Forbes, his real-time net worth is $1.9B as of June 19 2022.


Dr Anish Shah— Managing Director and CEO, Mahindra Group

Anish Shah has a doctorate from Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business. He also has a master's diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management Sciences in Ahmedabad. Previously Shah worked with GE Capital as president and CEO for 14 years. He is the MD and CEO of the Mahindra Group, which he joined in 2014.


Mr Rajesh Jejurikar—Executive Director (Auto & Farm Sectors)

Rajesh Jejurikar, an MBA from S P Jain Institute of Management, has many laurels to his credit; AsiaOne magazine as the "Global Indian of the Year 2020-21 is just one of them. He is presently a director of M & M Ltd and serves as a director on many of the group's companies in India and abroad.

 
Mr Vikram Singh Mehta —Lead Independent Director

Vikram Mehta was appointed as the lead independent director on April 1 2021. He presides over board meetings in the absence of the Chairman. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Maths (Hons) from St Stephen's Colleges Delhi and a master's degree in Politics and Economics (Hons) from Magdalen College, Oxford University and a master's degree in Energy economics from Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University in the USA.

Empathy toward Covid — Donation of three Oxygen Plants and 12 Ambulance in Telangana 
In its fight against C19 and empathy for the people of Telangana, M & M worked with the Government of Telangana by helping in the vaccination of the elderly by providing emergency taxi services. Their Oxygen on Wheels drive, where they worked to transport oxygen, helped save many lives. M & M group also gave away medical equipment, face shields, aerosol boxes, ration kits, PPE kits, face masks and meal packets to hospitals.

Tech Mahindra installed a 500 LPM oxygen plant at the 200-bed St. Theresa Hospital to help the underprivileged sections of society. M & M group supported the installation of a 1000 LPM oxygen plant in Mahabubnagar district and a 500 LPM Oxygen Plant in the industrial town of Zaheerabad.
Skills to 1M under-resourced Youth by 2025

M & M has skilled 500,00 youth through their skilling foundations to the under-resourced youth. The skilling initiatives include Surya Mitra, Mahindra Pride Schools & Classrooms and SMART ACADEMY, SMART Plus. In commemoration of their 75th year in business Anand Mahindra, the Chairman at an event, promised to upskill 500,000 more youth to bring the total to 1M by 2025. The Mahindra & Mahindra initiatives resulted in the creation of 1M in the past 15 years.
