History

Initially started as Tata Computer Systems, TCS was founded in 1968 by Tata Sons Ltd. and worked on punched card services, bureau services, and other services for enterprises. It acquired several businesses from different parts of the world over the years to grow stronger and wider. It was listed publicly in 2004 and became the first Indian company in IT to enter the bioinformatics sector.

By 2008, the company’s e-business operations started generating annual revenues of over 500 million USD. In 2011, it entered the small and medium-scale business market with its cloud offerings. In 2013, the firm secured a rank among the top ten global IT service companies. In 2022, it acquired the spot of the world’s second most valuable IT company.
