JSW Energy Limited was incorporated on March 10, 1994 as the power business of the JSW Group. During the late 1990s and early 2000s, the company established its presence in thermal power generation to meet the growing demand for electricity from industrial and utility customers. It later expanded into hydropower, power transmission, and mining-related businesses to diversify its operations. In 2009, JSW Energy was listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) through its initial public offering (IPO).
