BSE Mid & Small-Cap Indexes Hit by Selloff   Should You Invest?

By 5paisa 17 Mar 2025

The recent selloff in mid and small-cap stocks has erased nearly a year’s gains for half of the BSE MidCap and SmallCap Index constituents.

25% of stocks in the BSE SmallCap and MidCap indices have lost their three-year returns as technical support levels are breached.

The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices are down 20% and 23% respectively since September highs, signaling persistent weakness.

Valuation adjustments in mid and small-cap stocks may offer attractive entry points, with the MidCap index trading at a PE of 24.24x vs. its 10-year average of 27.94x.

Experts advise caution despite the recent correction, suggesting thorough research and risk assessment before investing in mid and small-cap stocks.
