About Bank of India

Bank of India (BOI) is one of India's leading public sector banks, established on 7 September 1906 by a group of eminent businessmen in Mumbai. It operated as a privately owned bank until its nationalisation in 1969. ● 1982: Introduced the Health Code System, becoming the first Indian bank to implement a structured framework for evaluating and rating its credit portfolio. 

● 1989: Became the first nationalised bank to establish a fully computerised branch and ATM facility at its Mahalaxmi Branch in Mumbai. 

● 1997: Entered the capital markets with its maiden public issue, broadening its shareholder base. 

● 2008: Successfully completed a Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP) to strengthen its capital base and support future growth. 

● Global Expansion: Expanded its international footprint across 15 countries spanning five continents, with branches, subsidiaries, representative offices, and a joint venture at key global financial centres. 

● Present: Bank of India operates 5,300+ branches across India, supported by 69 Zonal Offices and 13 FGMO Offices, while continuing to strengthen its digital banking and customer-centric services.

2. In 2022, the bank was recognised as the 3rd Best Performing Bank under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) Scheme by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.

3. For FY 2021–22, Bank of India received the Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar (3rd Prize) from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

4. For FY 2021–22, FY 2022–23, and FY 2023–24, the bank received the National Award for Outstanding Performance in SHG Bank Linkage from DAY-NRLM, Ministry of Rural Development.

5. For FY 2022–23, Bank of India secured 3rd Position in the Digital Payments Awards at the Digital Payments Award Ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

6. In 2024, the bank was honoured by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare for its outstanding performance under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), including achievements under the RAPID Campaign and BHARAT Campaign.

7. In 2025, Bank of India received an appreciation letter from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) for being among the highest-performing banks in the PMFME Campaign.

8. Also in 2025, the bank received another appreciation letter from MoFPI for its excellent performance under the PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme during FY 2024–25.

9. In 2025, Bank of India won Runner-up awards for Best Fintech Collaboration and Best IT Risk and Management at the 18th IBA Annual Banking Technology Conference.

10. During 2025, the bank secured 2nd Position among public and private sector banks under the NPS Diwas Recognition Programme conducted by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).

11. In 2025, Bank of India also received the "Shine & Succeed" Award from PFRDA for its strong performance in the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) Campaign.

12. In 2025, the bank achieved 3rd Rank under the Digidhan Mission by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for promoting digital payments.

13. In 2025, Bank of India became the first bank in India to receive the Standardization Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) for its official website, recognising its commitment to digital accessibility and inclusive banking.
