About JSW Energy
JSWEL is the power utility division of JSW Group, which was formed in March 1994. As of September 30, 2023, the promoter and promoter group firms owned 73.39% of the company's shares. The corporation operates in the areas of power trading, mining, transmission, and generation throughout several states. JSWEL has 6,771MW of operational generation capacity. This includes 1,200MW of thermal power at Ratnagiri, Maharashtra; 1,080MW of hydropower at Karpath Wangtoo, Himachal Pradesh; 860MW of hydropower at Vijayanagar, Karnataka; 18MW of thermal power at Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh; and 1,080MW of lignite-based power plant at Barmer, Rajasthan. Additionally, JSWEL and Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited have a 74:26 joint venture that includes a transmission line. The project consists of 110km of double circuit, 400 kV cables between Jaigad and Karad (Maharashtra) and 55km of lines between Jaigad and New Koyna.
The primary business of JSW Energy Ltd. and its subsidiaries is the generation of power from its power assets, which are situated in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nandyal, and Salboni. It serves as the holding company for the electricity division of the JSW group.The corporation also has a joint venture company that mines, and an associate that manufactures turbines. Long-term PPAs: Currently, 81% of the company's entire capacity is sold on a short-term or merchant basis, with the remaining portion covered by long-term PPAs.
98% of the total capacity under long-term PPAs is subject to take-or-pay agreements, with the remaining 2% being charged on a set basis.
