Key CSR Initiatives

Nestle has been involved in CSR activities that help improve the lives of the people in the communities where they operate since its inception. They have undertaken activities that would benefit many sections of our society in various ways as a way of expressing appreciation for the confidence and love they have earned from the people of India.

Nestle has contributed to several projects in India, including improving access to water, implementing sustainability measures, enhancing the livelihood of street food sellers, and participating in fitness programs, to name a few. These activities were picked from the Schedule VII of the Companies Act of 2013's list of recognized CSR work.

Here's a list of some of the CSR Initiatives taken by Nestle in India

  • Nestle healthy kids program- Project Jagriti: This program sought to address malnutrition, the primary contributor to childhood stunting. India is one of 88 nations most likely to fall short of the global nutrition targets that must be met by 2025, according to the Global Nutrition Report, 2020.
  • Project Serve Safe Food: Project "Serve Safe Food" was started by Nestle in collaboration with the National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) and local and national food regulatory agencies. The goal of the project is to educate street food vendors on maintaining food and general hygiene, safe and environmentally friendly food storage methods, food handling advice, trash disposal management, and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Project Vriddhi (Rural Development): This initiative was started in District Nuh, Haryana, in the village of Rohira, in partnership with the SM Sehgal Foundation. The three-year pilot project aims to raise drinking water quality, encourage environmentally friendly irrigation and farming practices, teach tips and tricks to increase production, combat gender inequality by encouraging a healthy learning environment in village schools, and stress the value of good sanitation practices like using toilets and menstrual hygiene, among other things.
  • Project HILLDAARI (Plastic Waste Management Awareness Campaign): The HILLDAARI campaign is a Nestle India project to support greener, more sustainable hill towns and other popular tourist destinations. Empty Maggi packets, one of Nestle's best-selling products, are a significant source of pollution in the hill areas, so the company decided to clean it up.
  • Water Conservation Programmes: Nestle India is dedicated to conserving water by using it as efficiently as possible, and they think that helping others starts at home.
  • WASH pledge: "WASH at the Workplace Pledge" in 2013 to carry out its Action 2020 Water policy. Nestlé is a founding member of the WASH Pledge and one of its original signatories.
  • Water productivity mapping of major Indian crops: In this pilot project, Nestle India focuses on two crops: rice and sugarcane, both of which require a lot of water to grow.
  • Good and Well-Planned Sanitation Programmes: Nestle thinks that supporting the government's "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" initiative is not just their responsibility as a responsible corporate citizen of the nation but also an effort to give the community access to excellent health.
