Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd. is one of largest sugar producers in India, with strong presence in global sugar market. Established in 1998, company operates integrated sugar mills in India & Brazil, producing sugar, ethanol, & power from bagasse. Shree Renuka Sugars is known for its focus on sustainable sugar production, utilizing advanced technology & best practices to enhance productivity & reduce environmental impact. company's diverse product portfolio & strategic geographic presence have enabled it to become key player in global sugar industry.
Wilmar owns SRSL as step-down subsidiary (via Wilmar Sugar Holdings Pte Ltd). Wilmar owns 62.5% of SRSL, giving it complete management control. Wilmar's chairman, group chief financial officer, & group head of sugar are on SRSL's board. operational connections between two organizations are fueled by similarities in Wilmar's three primary business segments—tropical oils, grains, & sugar—and SRSL's operations. About 20% of Wilmar's total sugar capacity is made up of SRSL. For refining sector, SRSL primarily purchases raw sugar from Wilmar at reasonable pricing & credit terms.
The companies' strategic connections stem from Wilmar's continued concentration on sugar industry, which it hopes to expand through consumer products, gain market share in crowded areas, & take advantage of growth prospects in ethanol business. Wilmar's total investment in SRSL as of 9MFY24 was INR76 billion (FY23: INR61 billion; FY22: INR54 billion). In addition, Wilmar had lent INR12.3 billion to Renuka Commodities DMCC, Dubai, SRSL's subsidiary, demonstrating latter's strategic significance & Wilmar's strong support for it.
