Bosch History

In the year 1922, Bosch entered India and set up a sales agency in Calcutta. Bosch set up its first manufacturing plant in 1951 and within some time, it has grown immensely to include 16 manufacturing sites and 7 development centers.
In India, Bosch Ltd manufacturing plants are located in Bangalore, Nashik, Naganathapura, Jaipur and Goa. The company started manufacturing spark plugs for single-cylinder diesel pumps in the year of 1954. 

After some years of manufacturing, Bosch Ltd expanded its manufacturing by setting up a second plant in Nashik in the year of 1972. Over a period, they also started manufacturing electric power tools, and Blaupunkt car audio systems and later they started catering – the engineering and business service needs of the Bosch world.

From the year 2000, they spread their business by acquiring Rexroth and established themselves as a leading player. The company also launched security technology products, a common rail system, gasoline system, and electric drives in 2010. In the year 2015, the company won Inter solar award and formally inaugurated a two-acre power tool plant in Chennai. On 1 July 2016, the buyback of 8,78,160 fully paid-up equity shares was approved by the board of directors which represents 2.796 % of the total paid-up share capital. Again in 2019, the company made an offer for buyback and accordingly bought back 1027100 fully paid-up shares.
