    About Gujarat State Financial Corporation

    Incorporated in 1960, Gujarat State Financial Corporation is a term lending development financial institution mandated to provide finance to small and medium scale enterprises.

    GSFC was created under the State Financial Corporation Act, 1951 passed by Parliament, with an objective to provide financial assistance to small and medium scale new/existing industrial and service sector units in Gujarat and for acquisition of fixed assets, preliminary & pre-operative expenses, expansion, modernization, diversification etc.
    At present, the company has financed 47,331 units and disbursed Rs. 3,300 crore, generating employment for over 6,00,000 persons. Many financed units have also graduated from small to medium and large scale.

    GSFC started making losses from FY01 and defaulted in repayment of debt. As a result, the corporation was compelled to withdraw from main activities of sanction and disbursement of loan since FY02 and concentrated only on recovery of dues since then. Presently, corporations are not in a position to extend financial assistance to the small-scale sector. In FY21, the corporation's recovery of dues stood at Rs. 3.53 crore (vs 7.95 crore in FY20). In spite of introducing various attractive

    One Time Settlement Schemes, corporations are still facing lower recovery of dues and mounting losses. Corporation recognizes income by way of interest, penalty and other charges after realization of cheques as intimated by banks.
    In FY21, the company generated revenue from Interest on Loans & Advances ~3%, Interest on Deposits ~73%, Provision Against Npa Written Back ~20%, Diminution in the Value of Investments Written Back ~4%. Company is reporting losses for the past many years
