PB Fintech share price witnessed a steep decline amid speculation regarding the possible resignation of its group CEO, Yashish Dahiya, on Thursday, September 17.

PB Fintech stock fell to an intraday low of ₹1,718.10. However, later, the speculation regarding his resignation was debunked by Dahiya and made it clear that he would still continue with his current designation at the company.

However, the issue surrounding his resignation got clarified while PB Fintech's share price was still trading lower for the day. At 11:55 am, the share price of the company stood at ₹1,765.80, down almost 3.5%.

Alongside the leadership speculation, investors were also tracking possible changes to insurance commission rules.

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India is expected to issue a consultation paper dealing with insurance commissions and distribution, according to sources cited in the report. The proposed document is expected to address commission structures as well as expense limits for insurance products.

The final framework has not yet been announced.

The report indicated that banks could face a more substantial reduction in commissions, while cuts for retail insurance products may be smaller. The final commission norms are expected to be worked out in consultation with the industry.

For PB Fintech, which operates Policybazaar, the evolving regulatory framework around insurance distribution remains another issue being watched by the market. However, the extent of any impact will depend on the final rules, which are yet to be determined.

Thursday’s immediate trigger was the speculation surrounding Dahiya’s position. Despite his denial of the exit report, PB Fintech shares remained in negative territory after recovering from their intraday low.
