Indian markets ended flat on Friday amid mixed global cues and profit booking in select heavyweight stocks. The Nifty 50 slipped 0.07% to 25,492.30, while the Sensex edged down 0.11% to 83,216.28. However, banking stocks offered some support, with the Bank Nifty rising 0.56% to 57,876.80. Shriram Finance, Bajaj Finance, and Adani Enterprises were among the top performers, gaining 3.81%, 2.66%, and 2.61%, respectively. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel, Tata Consumer Products, and Tech Mahindra were the major laggards, falling 4.46%, 1.97%, and 1.87%. Asian market cues were mostly negative, with Japan’s Nikkei down 1.19%, the Hang Seng falling 0.92%, and the Shanghai Composite easing 0.25%. European indices traded lower in mid-session, as the FTSE 100 slipped 0.53%, the DAX declined 0.52%, and the CAC 40 was down 0.32%. On Wall Street, U.S. markets opened lower, with the Dow Jones falling 0.84%, the NASDAQ plunging 1.90%, and the S&P 500 sliding 1.12%, as investors turned cautious amid weak global cues and selling in technology stocks.
