Key Takeaways

  • Maruti Suzuki India declined ₹65 or 0.53% to ₹12,166 and finished only ₹7 above the new 52-week low of ₹12,159.
  • The closing price remained more than ₹1,190 below the 50-day DMA and over ₹1,600 below the 200-day DMA.
  • One-month, three-month, six-month and one-year return readings were all negative.

Maruti Suzuki India share price closed September 16 at ₹12,166, down ₹65 or 0.53% from the previous close of ₹12,231. The stock opened at the same ₹12,231 level, reached ₹12,367 and then fell to ₹12,159. That session low also became the new 52-week low displayed by 5paisa.

The high-low range measured ₹208. Maruti finished only ₹7 above the bottom and ₹201 below the high. From opening price to close, the stock declined ₹65, matching the displayed absolute day-on-day fall. Volume reached 360,607 shares, while market capitalisation stood at ₹3,82,502 crore.

The moving-average gaps were large. Its 50-day DMA stood at ₹13,362.70, leaving the closing price ₹1,196.70 lower. The 100-day DMA was ₹13,570.60, a difference of ₹1,404.60. Maruti's 200-day DMA reached ₹13,791.40, which was ₹1,625.40 above the September 16 close.

The stock's 52-week high remained ₹17,370. Against that level, the ₹12,166 closing price was ₹5,204 lower. The new annual low of ₹12,159 was only ₹7 below the close. This left the latest price virtually at the bottom of a ₹5,211 annual band.

Returns were negative across every displayed period. One month stood at -12.06%, three months at -11.87% and six months at -3.38%. The one-year return was -20.30%. The six-month figure was the least negative, while the one-year reading was almost 17 percentage points weaker.

September 16 therefore combined a relatively modest 0.53% headline decline with a new annual low and large gaps to the moving averages. The stock had traded more than ₹200 above its low at one stage during the session, but eventually closed only ₹7 above it. That intraday reversal was more distinctive than the percentage change alone.
