Indian equity markets opened higher on Wednesday, October 21, with the Nifty 50 trading 0.93% up at 23,102 by 9:44 AM, buoyed by positive global cues and rising optimism over the India-US trade deal. Sentiment improved after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said India-US trade negotiations were nearing completion and a deal was expected in weeks.  Crude oil prices remained high on the back of continuing tensions in the Middle East. Brent crude climbed about 1.41% to USD 110.32 a barrel on Wednesday, supported by ongoing concerns about supply disruption and threats to oil shipments. Despite recent easing of US restrictions on Russian oil purchases, India remained concerned about uncertainty over global oil supplies.

On the institutional front, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) remained net sellers on Monday, October 19, offloading equities worth around Rs 1,149 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased shares worth around Rs 3,201 crore. Stock-specific activity remained in focus as investors tracked quarterly earnings announcements, corporate developments and management commentary.
