ABB To Acquire Rotork For $5.5 Billion
ABB will acquire U.K.-based Rotork for $5.5 billion in its largest-ever acquisition. The deal will be funded partly through around $4.8 billion in cash following the divestment of ABB’s stake in ABB Robotics.
Rotork manufactures equipment used to automatically open, close and control valves regulating the movement of liquids and gases. Its products serve industries including oil and gas, water and wastewater, power generation, chemicals, marine and mining.
The company generated revenue of around $1 billion in 2025 and has been growing at approximately 8% annually. ABB said the acquisition is expected to add around 3% to its revenue and immediately contribute to its operational earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation margin. The deal is expected to be earnings per share accretive in the second year after integration.
ABB Plans Further Capital Allocation
ABB CEO Morten Wierod said Rotork is expected to support growth while retaining its entrepreneurial approach and customer focus. He also said the company’s balance sheet provides room for additional mergers and acquisitions alongside the announced share buyback programme.
The parent company’s results and the acquisition announcement were reflected in the movement of ABB India share price on the domestic exchanges. ABB India is part of the wider ABB group and operates in areas linked to electrification, automation and industrial technology.
The latest quarterly performance, record order intake and proposed Rotork acquisition have placed the parent company’s growth and capital allocation plans in focus as ABB India shares continue to trade at elevated levels.
