Economic Survey 2026 to Be Tabled in Parliament on January 29 at 11 am

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey 2025–26 in Parliament on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11 am during the ongoing Budget Session. The document has been prepared by the Department of Economic Affairs under the Ministry of Finance.

Purpose of the Economic Survey

The Economic Survey serves as the government’s official assessment of the state of the economy and its financial performance for the year ending March 31. It also outlines major economic trends and policy context ahead of the presentation of the Union Budget.

The Union Budget is scheduled to be presented on February 1.

Press briefing after presentation

Following the tabling of the Economic Survey, a press briefing will be addressed by Chief Economic Adviser V. Anantha Nageswaran. The briefing will focus on key economic developments highlighted in the report.

Budget Session timeline

The Budget Session of Parliament began on January 28, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude on April 2, 2026, as per the parliamentary calendar.

Economic growth outlook

According to PTI, India is expected to record an economic growth rate of 7.4% in 2025–26, higher than the pre-Budget projection range of 6.3% to 6.8%.
