Flipkart on March 20 announced that its group chief financial officer Sriram Venkataraman will step down from his role, with a transition plan already in place, according to a company statement.

Venkataraman, who has been with the company since 2015 and served as group CFO since 2018, will continue with the organisation for a period to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.

Ravi Iyer To Take Charge Of Finance Function

The company said Ravi Iyer, currently CFO of Flipkart’s marketplace arm, will take over the broader finance organisation.

Iyer has been associated with Flipkart since 2014 and was elevated to CFO of the marketplace business in June 2025, according to company information. Flipkart stated that the leadership transition is part of its ongoing organisational plans.

Role In Strengthening Finance Operations

During his tenure, Venkataraman led the group’s finance function and was part of the leadership team overseeing financial operations. Flipkart CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said in a statement that Venkataraman contributed to strengthening the company’s finance organisation.

Transition Comes Ahead Of IPO Preparations

The development comes as Flipkart initiates preparatory steps for a potential initial public offering. It is reported that the company has initiated discussions with investment banks regarding the viability of the IPO.

Flipkart has engaged with firms including Goldman Sachs, Kotak Mahindra Capital, Morgan Stanley, and JP Morgan as part of early-stage discussions, according to the report.

IPO Timeline And Structure

The proposed IPO is under evaluation, and discussions are currently taking place regarding the demand for the proposed issue.

While the issue size has not been finalized, the IPO listing is expected to be considered in late 2026 or early 2027, as per sources. A major portion of the issue would be primary in nature, as per discussions.

Leadership Continuity

Flipkart said Venkataraman will remain involved during the transition period to ensure continuity in financial operations as the company advances its strategic plans.

The change in leadership is a major move as the company continues with internal restructuring and also assesses its plans for a public listing.
