Fuel Prices Remain Steady On April 2 As Global Crude Falls Near $100

Petrol and diesel fuel prices have continued their steady state in the major cities of the country on April 2, 2026. The fuel prices in Delhi-based cities stood at ₹94.77 per liter of petrol and ₹87.67 per liter of diesel.

Despite the volatility in global oil prices in recent weeks, oil marketing firms have kept the prices static. Oil marketing firms revise oil prices daily at 6 AM, but they have kept the prices static for regular petrol and diesel.
 

City-Wise Fuel Rates

Premium Fuels And Private Retailers

While regular fuel prices have remained steady, premium fuel variants have seen changes. According to Indian Oil Corporation, the price of XP100 petrol in Delhi was increased to ₹160 per litre on April 1 from ₹149 earlier.

Private retailers such as Shell India and Nayara Energy have also revised prices. In Bengaluru, Shell’s standard petrol is priced around ₹119.85 per litre, reflecting a gap compared to state-run outlets.

Global Oil Prices Ease

Global crude oil prices have declined from recent highs. Brent crude was trading near $100.54 per barrel, down 2.7%, while WTI crude was at $98.77 per barrel, lower by 2.5%.

The easing follows recent developments in West Asia. U.S. President Donald Trump stated that military operations could conclude within two to three weeks, which has reduced immediate concerns over supply disruptions, according to Reuters.

Furthermore, there has been an agreement to raise production by 206,000 barrels per day from April, which is keeping prices low.

Domestic Pricing Trends

Fuel prices in India have been stable for the past few months. The government has fixed the excise duty on petrol at ₹3 per liter and diesel at ₹0, as revised on March 27, 2026.

Domestic LPG prices remain at ₹913 per cylinder in Delhi after a ₹60 increase earlier in March. Beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana continue to receive a subsidy of ₹300 per cylinder.

With the relaxation in the global oil prices and the retail fuel prices in India remaining constant, the fuel pricing in India has been steady.
