Newer themes such as artificial intelligence, deeptech, climate technology and real estate technology also attracted funding interest, albeit at smaller scales than the leading sectors.
Funding Levels Above 2023, Well Below Peak Years
Despite the year-on-year decline, overall funding in 2025 stayed above the $10 billion raised in 2023. However, it remained well below the highs of earlier years, particularly 2021 and 2022, when startup funding peaked at $42 billion and $25 billion, respectively.
Public market activity also influenced the funding landscape. The IPOs completed during the year increased the amount of capital available to startups and showed a gradual change in funding routes.
