Summary:
The Indian IPO market has picked up pace sharply in July and August, with the two months accounting for nearly 69% of the ₹72,165 crore raised through 60 public issues during January-August 2026.
India’s IPO market picked up considerably in July and August, with 33 companies coming to the market and raising ₹49,592 crore. In the first six months of 2026, 27 IPOs had raised ₹22,573 crore, making the latest two-month period notably stronger in terms of fundraising.
July And August Account For Most Fundraising
Prime Database data showed that 60 IPOs raised ₹72,165 crore between January and August 2026. The ₹49,592 crore raised in July and August alone made up nearly 69% of the total fundraising during the eight-month period. The two months also brought a clear increase in the number of issues, with August recording the highest monthly deal count so far this year.
Activity was considerably slower during the first half of the year. From January to June, companies completed 27 IPOs and raised ₹22,573 crore. July then saw 12 issues raise ₹28,648 crore, making it the strongest month for fundraising during the period.
August has been even more active by issue count. Prime Database recorded 21 IPO during the month, which is the highest monthly number between January and August. The month raised ₹20,944 crore.
As per Business Standard, Pranav Haldea, managing director of Prime Database, said the stronger primary-market activity has partly followed the positive response to recent IPOs, including the large SBI Funds Management issue and its market debut. He also pointed to a buildup of companies with existing Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) approval coming to market as their approval periods approach expiry.
IPO Pipeline Remains Large
The pipeline of companies awaiting Sebi approval stood at 75, with an estimated total issue size of ₹2.02 lakh crore, Prime Database data showed.
Of this amount, 32 companies have disclosed issue sizes totalling ₹1.38 lakh crore. For the remaining 43 companies, whose proposed issue sizes have not been disclosed, Prime Database has estimated ₹64,500 crore by assuming an issue size of ₹1,500 crore for each company.
Several sizeable offerings are part of the pipeline. Jio Platforms has a proposed issue size of ₹40,000 crore, while the potential NSE IPO is estimated at ₹30,000 crore. Razorpay, Kuku FM and Cult.fit have potential issue sizes of ₹4,700 crore, ₹3,500 crore and ₹3,500 crore, respectively.
Primary Market Activity Rebounds
The rise in issuance becomes clearer when compared with the beginning of 2026. January recorded three IPOs worth ₹4,765 crore, while April saw two issues raise ₹1,076 crore. There were no IPOs in May.
The number of issues remained in single digits in every month from January through June before increasing to 12 in July and 21 in August.
Vinit Bolinjkar, head of research at Ventura, said the revival reflected improving investor sentiment, domestic liquidity and a stronger pipeline of companies seeking to raise capital.
The sharp increase in July and August has therefore changed the pace of India’s primary market in 2026, with the two months contributing the bulk of funds raised so far and the number of new listings also reaching the highest levels of the year.
