SEBI Gives Green Light for NSE’s Weekly F&O Expiry Shift to Tuesday
ITC Hotels Excluded from BSE Sensex & NSE Nifty – What It Means for Investors

On February 5, 2025, ITC Hotels Ltd. was removed from the 30-stock BSE Sensex, along with 22 other BSE indices, before the start of the trading session.
According to a statement from Asia's oldest stock exchange, "As ITC Hotels did not reach the lower circuit before the cut-off time, it will be excluded from all BSE indices effective before trading commences on Wednesday."
By 9:40 AM, ITC Hotels' share price were trading at ₹165.9 on the NSE, reflecting a 1.3% increase from the previous session’s closing price.

The company was temporarily included in the NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex to enable passive investors to realign their portfolios accordingly. Following its exclusion from the Sensex, index funds sold shares worth over ₹400 crore, with an additional ₹700 crore in sell-offs expected after its removal from the NSE Nifty.
ITC Hotels made its market debut on January 29, listing at ₹180 per share on NSE and ₹188 on the BSE. This IPO-free listing was approximately 31% lower than its implied price of ₹260 per share. The listing followed the company’s demerger from its parent organization, ITC.
ITC had previously announced the demerger of its hotel business into a separate publicly traded entity to maximize shareholder value. The demerger ratio was set at 1:10, meaning shareholders who held 10 ITC shares as of January 6, 2025, were entitled to receive one share of ITC Hotels post-demerger.
Additionally, under the demerger scheme, ITC Hotels directly allocated equity shares to ITC shareholders. As a result, approximately 60% of ITC Hotels’ shares are held directly by ITC shareholders in proportion to their ITC holdings, while ITC retains the remaining 40% stake.
