PC Jeweller share price traded slightly higher on Tuesday after the jewellery retailer announced that its board of directors will meet on July 16 to consider a proposal to raise capital through a Qualified Institutions Placement (QIP). The company said the proposed fundraising is aimed at supporting future growth and strengthening its capital base.
The PC Jeweller share price was trading at ₹9.93 on the NSE at around 12:35 p.m., up 0.10% from the previous close after the announcement.
Board to Review QIP Proposal
In a regulatory filing with the stock exchanges, PC Jeweller said its board will consider and approve, if deemed appropriate, the issuance of securities through the QIP route during its meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 16.
The company stated that the funds raised through the proposed issue would be used primarily for strategic growth initiatives, business expansion, capital requirements and other general corporate purposes.
The announcement kept the PC Jeweller share price in focus as investors assessed the company’s plans to strengthen its balance sheet and support future operations.
Company Targets Debt-Free Status
PC Jeweller also said it expects to clear its remaining debt obligations during the current quarter. According to the filing, the repayment will be funded through proceeds received from the earlier preferential issue of fully convertible warrants to the promoter, along with internal accruals.
The company added that once the outstanding debt is repaid, the proposed QIP proceeds can be directed mainly towards growth-related initiatives instead of debt servicing.
Earlier, PC Jeweller had informed exchanges that it had repaid outstanding dues to two consortium banks and remained on track to become debt-free during the ongoing quarter.
Capital Raise to Support Expansion
The proposed fundraising forms part of the company’s broader capital planning strategy. A Qualified Institutions Placement allows listed companies to raise funds from qualified institutional buyers without undertaking a public offering, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.
The PC Jeweller share price has remained under watch following the latest disclosure, with investors monitoring the outcome of the board meeting and the company’s progress on debt reduction.
Further details on the size of the proposed issue and other terms are expected after the board considers the fundraising proposal on July 16. The company said the capital, if approved, will primarily be deployed to support its long-term business expansion plans, strategic growth initiatives and general corporate requirements.
